Practical Information

Speed

The robot (pedestal) moves from standstill to full high-speed motion and back to a complete stop in fractions of a second — capturing the fastest action with pinpoint accuracy.

The precision robotic arm reaches horizontal and vertical movement speeds of up to 2 metres per second, and 180° of rotation in 1.5 seconds.

Camera & Lenses

Lightweight cameras are recommended: Alexa Mini, RED, Phantom, or Sony Venice with the Rialto extension.

For high-speed moves, lightweight lenses are recommended for safety in the event of an emergency arm stop.

Focus is usually programmed by the robot operator. For scenes with unpredictable or improvised choreography, a manual focus puller is necessary.

On Location

The robot weighs around 700 kg. It is not detachable into smaller parts and cannot be carried up stairs. It enters position on small transport wheels — the minimum required door opening is 83 cm wide and 143 cm high.

For full stability during very fast movement, the base is best screwed to the studio floor (4 holes drilled into the concrete).

Power

A separate 32 A power line is required.

Power consumption: 3 kW.

Setting Up

Setting up the robot arm takes approximately 45 minutes.

Installation and calibration of the camera takes 15 to 30 minutes and requires the assistance of a camera technician.

Limitations

MoCo is not sound-proofed, due to motor noise.

MoCo is not rain-proof — the electronics are built into the rig, and it must be covered on the spot until the rain has stopped.
